3 children die after being pulled from burning West Bloomfield home

Three siblings perished in a fire at a house in West Bloomfield on Sunday. After being rescued from their burning home, the victims, who were 12, 15, and 16, were brought to a hospital where they passed away.

FOX 2: WEST BLOOMFIELD, MIAccording to officials, a killed three siblings.

Just before 8 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a residence in the 5000 block of Pembury Lane after receiving reports of individuals trapped inside a blazing house.

We know:

Firefighters broke down the front door and searched the house when they got there.

After being discovered in the house, a 12-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old girl were rushed to a hospital, where they all passed away.

What is unknown to us:

As of right now, the fire’s source remains unknown.

There were no functional smoke detectors in the house. The tragedy is being used by fire officials to encourage people to check theirs.

It’s crucial that smoke alarms are operational because they will alert you to issues early. Make sure the smoke alarms are operational by testing them, said West Bloomfield Fire Marshal Byron Turnquist.

Additionally, Turnquist advised ensuring that each room had two exits in case of a fire.

“This is a point that we really need to drive home after this incident,” he stated.
