Owner Linus De Paoli cited financial struggles and a slowdown in business as reasons for shutting down after nearly four years.
FOX 2, WYOMING, Mich.is closed after serving Brazilian food and beer for almost four years.
The brewery located south of Grand Rapids announced that the last day would be February 8.
After opening in 2021, 3 Gatos developed become a place to eat, drink, and watch sports, especially soccer.
The shutdown was due to a decline in business and financial difficulties, according to owner Linus De Paoli. De Paoli claims that after he divorced his wife, with whom he founded the brewery, 3 Gatos started to have financial difficulties.
“In the beginning, I had a lot of help and support from Renata but after the separation running the business on my own became too much,” De Paoli posted to Facebook. “I even tried my best to find other partners to come in and help after the separation but failed twice.”
Brew Detroit intends to close its taproom and concentrate on production and distribution after ten years of offering craft beers.
De Paoli raised money through crowdsourcing in October to keep 3 Gatos afloat. “It was helpful, but not enough,” he added.
“November and December brought reality back and very slow business and difficulties in paying our bills again,” he stated.
According to De Paoli, that prompted him to take the tough decision to retire from managing a brewery and concentrate on his personal needs.
“Over the past three and a half years, the trip with all of you has been amazing. “I’ll always treasure the memories we’ve created together, including laughter and celebration,” he added. “You all have become like family to me, and I can’t thank you enough for your support and love over the years.”

The brewery is among a number of businesses in the state that have lately made the decision to shut down. Late last year, two locations in Kalamazoo and Fennville, both in west Michigan, shuttered.
Metro Detroit declared that its taproom would soon close as production takes precedence. suspended operations in December in the meanwhile.
