(FOX2) WEST BLOOMFIELD TWP, Mich.Numerous questions remain. Authorities are learning that there were no functional smoke detectors inside the house while they conduct their investigation.

The house fire on Pembury Lane on Sunday claimed the lives of a 16-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old boy. Just before 8 p.m., firefighters were called to the house and forced their way through the front doors to discover the children inside.

After being admitted to the hospital, the three siblings passed away.

We know:

A marked police cruiser was parked outside the house on Monday. According to one neighbor, he had no clue that anything was amiss.

“I heard no one attempting to escape. There was no noise that I could hear. Jonathan Estes remarked, “I don’t understand why you know you didn’t hear that or anything.”

According to West Bloomfield Fire Marshal Byron Turnquist, the house’s smoke detectors weren’t functioning.

“I m not sure at this time, so I know the police department has interviewed the parents and I just don t have the results of the interview, so I m not sure where they were at the time of the fire,” he stated.
