70s music legend collapses mid gig and hits head on floor sparking fan concern

Legendary musician Patti Smith passed out on stage while performing in Brazil.

Giggoers were shocked when the 78-year-old apparently struck her head after falling inside the Teatro Cultura Art stica in Sao Paulo.

Smith was wheeled off the stage after complaining of excruciating migraines prior to the incident.

“[She] felt dizzy on stage during today’s performance,” the theater read.

“She is being monitored by top doctors and staff.”

Smith went back on stage to perform her hit song “Because the Night” in spite of the worries about her well-being.

According to the theater, it was “a very memorable moment for everyone present.”

Smith and the experimental band Soundwalk Collective are scheduled to perform again at the same location tonight.

The group posted on Instagram: “Patti says she is tremendously grateful for your patience and forgiveness and she sends her love to all who attended.” Thank you.

Smith’s performance in Bologna, Italy, was canceled in December 2023 after she was admitted to the hospital due to a “sudden illness.”

Smith, a Chicago native, gained notoriety in 1975 with the release of her debut album, Horses.

Together with the renowned musician Bruce Springsteen, she co-wrote the song “Because the Night,” which peaked at number 13 on the 1978 Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Smith was elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 and has received praise for her “street-savvy” songs and punk lyricism.

The artist has received four Grammy Award nominations and won a gong at the 1995 ASCAPPop Music Awards for Horses.

In 2021, she received a Grammy Hall of Fame award for Horses.

Smith came in at number 117 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 200 greatest vocalists of all time in January 2023.

Smith, who is well-known for her punk rock career, admitted to NPR in 2016 that as a child, she used to “daydream” about becoming an opera singer.

She claimed that although her parents’ voices were pleasant, she didn’t believe she have a “gift.”

Smith continued: “But I believe that what I’ve always had is that, for whatever reason, I’ve always felt at ease speaking or performing in front of an audience.

I never really had a terrific voice, but I suppose I have a lot of courage. It’s simply guts, in my opinion.
