9 People Shot at City Place Doral’s Martini Bar, Authorities on Alert, Continuing Investigation Is Going-on
29 spent bullet casings were found at the crime scene; 22 were 9mm and 7 were.40-inch gun
DORAL, Florida – Following nine gunshots on Saturday morning at Miami-Dade County’s CityPlace Doral’s Martini Bar, two investigations were still ongoing on Monday. Thirty minutes before closing, two passed away.
The bar at 3450 NW 83 Ave saw two shootings after three in the morning. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was looking into the shooting that occurred after police involvement, and the Miami-Dade Police Department was looking into a homicide.
George Alejandro Castellanos was the victim of the murder. He was characterized by his family as a devoted father, the director of security at the pub, and a Florida International University student who wanted to work in law enforcement.
Following a police-involved shot, Jamal Wayne Wood, the person suspected of killing Castellanos, passed away. Two policemen at the bar reportedly fired their rifles, according to Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez.
The bodies of the two males were in the medical examiner’s office. Wood was 37 and Castellanos was 23. Investigators from the crime scene gathered a Springfield Armory XD.40 pistol and 29 used bullet casings, of which seven were.40 caliber and 22 were 9mm, according to sources with Local 10 News who made the revelation on Sunday.
Investigators surmise that Wood owned the weapon and that he used it in response to a quarrel with a man who broke up with him and an altercation with a lady.
“Why would he own a firearm? The sad younger brother of Castellanos said, “It was for something so not serious.”

Five people, a bar security guard, and one police officer were all hurt. The Miami-Dade Police Department’s detective Alvaro Zabaleta stated on Saturday that it was premature to determine the source of the gunfire.
Personnel from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived. Also present was the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. According to Lopez, the site was secured with assistance from police officers from the nearby departments of Sweetwater and Medley.
According to police sources, investigators have gathered the following information on the six injured citizens who have survived: two women and four men.
The 38-year-old male, who broke up an argument between Woods and a woman, was critically injured after receiving multiple gunshot wounds. He was at Kendall Hospital, part of HCA Florida.
A 34-year-old man was hurt in the abdomen, while Catellanos’s 28-year-old bar coworker was shot in the hand. At Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, their status was stable.
At HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, there was a 30-year-old woman in stable condition, a 57-year-old man in stable condition, and a 48-year-old woman in stable condition.
