Americans have hours left to grab $3k payment from $5.1m privacy settlement and no receipt needed to get the cash

AMERICANS have just a few hours left to claim a one-time payment of $3,000 as part of a huge $5.1 million privacy settlement.

The suit alleges that Magid Gloves violated Illinois laws by using fingerprint time clocks and taking temperatures with scanners.

Citizens eligible to receive the payments don’t even need to show a receipt in order to stash the cash.

Anyone who used either piece of advanced tech at Magid’s Romeoville facility between January 8, 2016 to August 30, 2024 can benefit from the settlement.

Magic Gloves are accused of using the clocks and scanners without giving the appropriate information to the people using them.

A range of biometric information was collected, according to the class action lawsuit.

What is a class-action settlement?

CLASS action lawsuits offer groups of people, or ‘classes,’ a way to band together in court.

These suits are often brought by one or a few people who allege a company or other entity has wronged a large group of people.

When a suit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar complaints to those who filed the suit.

Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue further legal action by accepting money.

These payout agreements frequently include statements by the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.

Pollution, discrimination, or false advertising are a few examples of what can land a class action on a company’s doorstep.
