The pair didn’t know how to react after Skenes, Dunne’s long-term boyfriend, was named theMLBRookie of the Year.

Skenes, 22, was bestowed with the honour of Rookie of the Year on Monday night after what has been a superb debut season for thePittsburgh Piratesstar.

The 2023 MLB Draft No.1 pick had a pretty relaxed reaction when he was announced as the winner by Cal Ripkin Jr. live on the MLB Network.

Skenesleaned in to plant a kiss on the LSUgymnasticsstar, but was met with a turned head with the pair on completely different pages.

The moment was fleeting, but certainly awkward.

Fans reacted onsocial media, with one writing: “This just made my skin crawl”.

Skene’s nonchalant reaction was likely because the news was somewhat expected given his efforts this season.

The former LSU pitcher, who was handed a start in the All-Star game for the National League, went 11-3 with the Pirates with a 1.96 earned run average over 133 innings with 170 strikeouts.

He’s not the only athlete in the relationship, however.

Olivia Dunnehas excelled in gymnastics for LSU, helping the Tigers to a national championship in 2024.
