ESPN debuts ‘awesome’ new technology in major broadcast change as Dan Orlovsky calls it ‘one of the coolest things ever’
On Tuesday, ESPN introduced new technology to its audience.
On an ESPN show, former NFL quarterback and current TV analyst Dan Orlovsky used a gizmo to demonstrate his football expertise.
Analysis of Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allenduring’s triumph against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 was Orlovsky’s assignment.
However, the 41-year-old used virtual reality to dismantle his perception of Allen throughout the competition.
With the Bills ahead 23–21 in the fourth quarter, Allen completed a 3rd-and-9 pass to Khalil Shakir to sustain the drive during a pivotal play.
Later, Allen’s 26-yard run for a touchdown sealed the victory.

He caused the Kansas City team and Patrick Mahomes to suffer their first defeat of the season.
Orlovsky used virtual reality to show the third-down play from Allen’s point of view during Tuesday’s NFL Live broadcast.
In order to provide viewers Allen’s first-person perspective, Orlovsky used a virtual reality headset.
Before the first-down conversion, he explained to the audience what Allen and Shakir were considering in response to the Chiefs’ Cover 0 defensive formation.
Later on, Orlovsky posted something on Xof the NFL Live clip that has now gone viral.
“One of the coolest things I’ve ever been a part of at @ESPNNFL,” he tweeted.
The show’s significant broadcast adjustment impressed viewers.
One person wrote, “Football’s coolest use of technology.”
“This is fantastic! So much fun,” someone else wrote.
A third said, “Please, this needs to be a recurring segment.”
ESPN figure Orlovsky used a technology called StatusPro, which was co-created by Andrew Hawkins.
The first virtual reality football game sanctioned by the NFL is called StatusPro.

Hawkins participated in two CFL seasons and five NFL seasons.
