Bluesky users baffled by ‘invalid handle’ alert as millions flock to X rival – but there’s a way to instantly fix it
As an alternative to Elon Musk’s X social network, Bluesky has attracted millions of users.
The site has existed since 2019, but it gained enormous popularity following the US election, and many well-known figures joined.
With the ability to post, reply, and message other users, Bluesky is very similar to X, which was formerly known as Twitter.
Prior to being spun off, it was essentially a research project at Twitter.
However, some people have discovered a strange problem on their account in the haste to acquire profile names.

Furthermore, it doesn’t seem to be a recent issue.

“I never changed my handle and still get the invalid handle error lol,” a different individual stated.
“Invalid handle” hits once more!” A third person made a statement.
The cause of the problem is unclear.
Bluesky explained that the “invalid handle” was a result of their “upgraded infrastructure” and that it “may affect your profile” in a post from August 2023.
However, the company also provided a solution that ought to resolve the issue.
According to Bluesky, you will have to re-verify in order to fix the issue.
Go to Settings > Change my handle > Enter your current handle > Verify DNS Record > Update to accomplish this.
“The above steps should resolve your handle, but if the error persists, please file a support ticket via the Help button in your menu so our team can assist you,” Bluesky said.
