Watch the moment Richard Gere makes obscene gesture at TV host leaving her stunned

When he flipped the bird at a TV host live on air, actor Richard Gere left her speechless.

During the awkward interaction, the singer gave the presenter the finger, making her gasp.

Richard, 75, had appeared on The Today Show, a morning discussion show in the United States, to talk about his recently launched Paramount+ series, The Agency.

His interview with Samantha Guthrie, the host of the show, started off badly when he made the startlingly offensive gesture.

The new trailer for The Agency was shown to start the segment today, but before Savannah could introduce him, Richard gave her the finger in front of the cameras.

Unsure of how to respond, Samantha stammered and fanned his hand away from the cameras using her interview papers.

She was laughing as the host said, “You just did an obscene gesture on this family morning show.”

She was heard stumbling and yelling, “I’m bleeping you.”

Richard claimed he was reenacting a scene from his character that would have followed the trailer if it hadn’t been deleted in an effort to explain what had transpired.

“You didn’t show, but that’s what I did in the piece,” the actor remarked.

“That s what the clip was.”

Samantha stepped in to clarify things among the chaos of Richard’s accident: “That’s what the clip was, but we cut that part out.”

Why was Richard Gere banned from the Oscars?

“But then you did it live.”

Richard acknowledged that the trailer “didn’t make any sense” without the gesture, so he made it.

George Clooney is one of the producers of The Agency, which has a stellar ensemble.

The show’s credits also include Jodie Turner-Smith, Jeffrey Wright, and Michael Fassbender in addition to Richard.
