ICBM was ‘NEW type of weapon’, Zelensky warns as Russia calls UK ‘participant in war’ & Starmer blasts ‘reckless’ Putin
Ukrainian President Zelensky has warned that Russia employed a dangerous new kind of weapon in its alleged intercontinental ballistic missile strike against Ukraine.
Despot Vladimir Putin is exploiting Ukraine as a “testing ground” for new weaponry, Zelensky informed his war-torn country.
Russia launched an ICBM toward the city of Dnipro early this morning, according to the Kyiv Air Force today.
If confirmed, it would be the first time the nuclear-capable missile has ever been deployed in a war.
Unconfirmed video seemed to show warheads from the fierce R-26 Rubezh crashing on Dnipro throughout the night, illuminating the sky with explosions.
at a video that was made public online today, Zelensky stated that the strike possessed “all the characteristics… speed, altitude… of an intercontinental ballistic missile” while he was at his office.

“It is clear that Putin is using Ukraine as a test ground,” he continued.
“Expert reviews are in progress. Ukraine is clearly being used as a test site by Putin.
Additionally, following the alleged ICBM strike, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer chastised Putin for his “reckless and escalatory behaviour.”
He referred to reports of their usage as “deeply concerning” and warned that such a move would escalate the conflict.
“If true, clearly, this would be another example of depraved, reckless, and escalatory behavior from Russia,” stated Starmer’s official spokeswoman.
ICBMs have a minimum range of 5,500 kilometers, or 3,400 miles, and are made to carry nuclear warheads.
The costly, cutting-edge weaponry may have been employed as a form of intimidation following Kyiv’s barrage of long-range Western missiles fired at Russia this week.
Arguments that the missile was launched for a symbolic, political effect were reinforced when sources and experts told AFP that it was “obvious” the missile that struck Ukraine did not have a nuclear charge.
As the battle quickly nears its third year, Zelensky charged that Putin was doing “anything to prevent his neighbor from escaping his grasp.”
“Our insane neighbor has once again demonstrated his true nature and his hatred for freedom, decency, and human life in general today. The hero premier remarked, “And how scared he is.”
Regarding the Dnipro strike, the Ukrainian air force issued a statement claiming that Russia had employed a range of missiles, including several cruise rockets launched by fighter fighters.
“In particular, an intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation,” they stated.
Putin’s Kremlin insisted that it was taking all necessary steps to prevent nuclear escalation, but it would not clarify whether it had launched an ICBM.
Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, responded that he had “nothing to say on this topic” when asked if Moscow fired the missile, which can strike targets thousands of kilometers distant.
Russia used Western long-range missiles to launch the nocturnal onslaught in retaliation for Ukraine’s successful double-tap attacks this week.
Kyiv launched British Storm Shadow rockets on Wednesday and US ATACMS missiles against Putin’s land overnight on Monday.
Russia said it would “react accordingly” after embassies in the country’s capital, Kyiv, closed yesterday out of concern for reprisals.
Following the Storm Shadow strike against targets deep within Russia, Moscow’s envoy to the UK accused Britain of being “directly involved” in the war in Ukraine.
Andrei Kelin stated to Sky News: “Britain and the UK is now directly involved in this war, because this firing cannot happen without Nato staff, British staff as well.”
Moscow has been warning for months that Ukraine’s employment of Western long-range missiles would be a significant step up in the conflict.
September saw a growling It would “mean that NATO countries are at war with Russia,” according to Putin.
And just hours after the ATACMS strike, the shook-up dictator doubled down on Tuesday, authorizing a new nuclear doctrine.
Russia claimed the action should be interpreted as a threat to the West, and the new doctrine permits Moscow to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states.
Dmitry Peskov, the chief Kremlin lapdog, swore that Ukraine’s soldiers’ use of Western non-nuclear weapons may provoke a nuclear retaliation as Putin’s propagandist puppets spewed threats against the US and UK on television.
Midway through a press briefing, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for Russia’s foreign ministry, was instructed not to comment on the alleged ICBM strike, while Moscow declined to make any public comments on the attack.
In the middle of the televised conference, she was seen taking a call.
A supposedly senior diplomat was heard over her microphone saying: “Masha [Maria], ballistic missile strikes on Yuzhmash [defense plant in Dnipro].”
“Now, the Westerners are discussing it. Don’t make any comments.
Additionally, she criticized the opening of a new US ballistic missile defense facility in the Polish village of Redzikowo.
A “list of priority targets for potential destruction which, if necessary, can be executed with a wide range of advanced weapons” is what Zakharova claimed it had been placed on.
If verified, Russia’s alleged ICBM attack would be a “clear escalation” by Putin, according to the EU.
“Reckless and escalatory” is how the UK described the strike.
Going one step further, Defense Secretary John Healey told the UK Defence Committee that Russia might have been considering launching a ballistic missile for months.
In urgent negotiations today, he stated: “there are unconfirmed media reports today of Russia firing a new ballistic missile into Ukraine which we know they have been preparing for months” .
“The front line is now less stable than at any time since the early days of the full scale Russian invasion in 2022,” he stated.
“In recent weeks, Putin and his soldiers have clearly escalated their actions.
“Ahead of winter, they have increased their attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, killed children in their attacks on civilian targets, and sent at least 10,000 North Korean troops to the front lines of combat.”
