Reddit down in mysterious mass outage as thousands of users say app and website ‘not working’

Today, tens of thousands of users worldwide experienced a crash on the popular social networking platform Reddit.

Because sites are not loading correctly and are blank, Reddit users have been unable to access the site.

Over 84,000 users in the US and the UK reported platform problems on November 21 at approximately 10:20 a.m. ET (3:20 p.m. GMT).

On thousands of devices, the app and website seem to have crashed, leaving blank screens and endless loading icons.

Users have written about their problems on rival social networking site X (previously Twitter); some have even gone so far as to call the outage the “worst day” of their lives.

“Reddit being down means my posts are missing out on potential traffic and upvotes and karma this is literally the worst day of my life,” a user remarked.

“I guess Reddit is down,” someone other added. What other excuse do I have for wasting time on photographs of cats and guinea pigs?

A third individual posted: “Why is my Reddit not working smh how can i do my daily morning lounging in bed routine.”

The cause of the disturbance is unknown.

The problem, which Reddit claims impacts desktop websites, mobile websites, and the mobile app, is presently being looked at.

When the website or app will be operational again is unknown.

Outages frequently persist for a few hours at a time.

“Typical mess,” said a fourth user on X.

“Again?,” a fifth said.

According to Reddit’s server status page, the platform experienced a similar situation only yesterday, which was fixed about eight hours later.

However, approximately four hours after starting to look into the problem, Reddit was able to release a patch.

Reddit apologized via its X account, claiming that a fault in a recent platform update was the cause of the previous outage on November 20.
