Trump celebrates ‘decisive win’ as hush money sentencing is canceled & judge sets deadline for dismissing case entirely
Donald Trump’s sentencing in his hush-money case has been revoked indefinitely, clearing the president-elect of a significant legal obstacle.
Trump’s sentencing in his state criminal case will no longer proceed as scheduled next week, a New York court announced.
On Friday morning, Judge Juan Merchan sent out a letter announcing the adjournment.
In order to hide an alleged affair before the 2016 election, Trump’s longtime fixer struck a hush-money arrangement with adult film actress Stormy Daniels, which he was found guilty of on 34 counts in May.
Trump’s legal team has time to prepare their argument that his election victory warrants the total reversal of his criminal convictions, which is why his sentencing has been postponed.
The deadline for Trump’s staff to turn in their extra documents is December 2.

Steven Cheung, his publicist, referred to the sentence postponement as a “decisive win.”
During Trump’s second administration, Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg had argued against the proposal and asked Judge Merchan to halt the proceedings.
That would have meant that the earliest sentence date would have been 2029.
December 9 is the deadline for prosecutors to reply.
