These Oklahoma Counties Named Some of the ‘Deadliest’ for Traffic Fatalities

People who live in Oklahoma are well aware of how dangerous their roads and streets can be. Regrettably, these trips can sometimes end in death.

A study of national statistics found that two counties in Oklahoma had some of the highest rates of traffic deaths per person in the United States for counties with 20,000 to 149,999 people.

In terms of traffic deaths, Seminole County was ranked 13th and McCurtain County was ranked 18th among areas with that many people.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics used in the Convoy study showed that between 35,000 and 45,000 people die in car accidents in the U.S. every year.

In Oklahoma in 2021, 681 crashes killed 762 people. The NHTSA says that speeding is a cause of nearly one-third of all traffic deaths.
