I watched Queen and Prince Philip’s secret signals that proved they were head over heels in love 

The romance between the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip endured the public frenzy of royal life for more than 70 years.

Arthur Edwards, a royal photographer, has shared how he personally saw the covert signs that demonstrated the depth of their love.

This year would have marked the 77th anniversary of the couple’s November 20, 1947, wedding at Westminster Abbey.

“I was walking behind the Queen, shaking hands with the mayor while the Queen was talking to the mayor for about 70 years,” Arthur revealed on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show.

And until he retired a few years before his death, he did that with unwavering dedication for eternity. That man was truly remarkable.

After snapping at the royals for almost fifty years, Arthur recalled a few pivotal events that demonstrated the genuine closeness of their bond.

He went on: And that marriage, I recall the final trip to Australia in 2011 in Perth, where a youngster was unable to see the Queen. Prince Philip helped her get over the barrier and removed the flowers from her, which he then presented to the Queen.

And there was something unique about the way they looked at each other when he did that.

With them, I’ve witnessed that a few times.

He was on the balcony the last time he was at the Cenotaph, and his hip was badly bothering him. He was in a lot of pain, and the Queen was begging him to go, but he refused. That is the photo that best captures it all.

It was his job to be there.

I think that encapsulated everything about the man when he left a puff of his cheeks and walked away to get some comfort.

In retrospect, I really appreciated him even though he didn’t like me much since he was still serving his nation far into his 90s.

Philip was not an obvious choice for the Queen’s husband because of his German ancestry, parents’ broken marriage and gambling, and his impoverished father.

According to the late Margaret Rhodes, the Queen’s cousin and childhood friend, she never looked at anybody else and always loved him. She fell in love right away.

An enduring success story was their union. They had been married for seventy-three years when Philip passed away on April 9, 2021.

“He doesn’t take compliments well,” the Queen remarked on their golden wedding anniversary. But over the years, he has simply been my strength and steadfast.

Elizabeth had always been more cautious and steady, whereas Philip had always been decisive and straightforward.

He remained the vital ally and the affable person the Queen sought to for counsel well into their nineties.

Their 1947 nuptials brought much-needed sparkle and splendor to post-war Britain.

After ten years, the Queen declared Philip a prince and he became the Duke of Edinburgh.

November 14, 1948, saw the birth of Charles Philip Arthur George, and August 15, 1950, of Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise, the second child.

Buckingham Palace was the birthplace of Edward Antony Richard Louis on March 10, 1964, and Andrew Albert Christian Edward on February 19, 1960.

Philip’s perspective on the monarchy was pragmatic. “Never letting the Queen down is my job first, second, and last,” he once remarked.
