Saquon Barkley tipped for rarely-seen NFL achievement after falling just shy of most running yards in a game

The city of Philadelphia Saquon Barkley, the top running back for the Eagles, is predicted to achieve a feat that is unusual for his position.

Following Barkley’s incredible rushing display in the Eagles’ Sunday Night Football victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12, the prediction was made.

In Philadelphia’s 37–20 triumph, Barkley ran for a franchise-high 255 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

In addition, he caught four receptions for 47 yards, for a total of 302 yards during the game.

In league history, the 27-year-old Barkley recorded the ninth-highest number of rushing yards in a game.

With just 11 games played, the 2018 first-round pick has already set a new career best of 1,392 rushing yards.

Additionally, Barkley is on track to exceed NFL Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards with 2,151 yards.

The MVP award hasn’t been handed to a running back since Adrian Peterson in 2012, but NFL fans think Barkley can win it.

“Barkley is the MVP and it’s not close at all,” a reader commented.

“The league’s MVP is Saquon. Another responded, “Debate a wall.”

A third person questioned, “Are we sure Saquon isn’t the NFL MVP?”

The betting markets disagree.

He isn’t the obvious MVP favorite right now, though.

Barkley is behind Josh Allen (+150) of the Buffalo Bills and Lamar Jackson (+275) of the Baltimore Ravens at DraftKings SportsBook.

After spending six seasons with the division rival New York Giants, the seven-year NFL veteran agreed to a three-year, $38 million deal with the Eagles.

Barkley contributed to Philly’s seventh consecutive victory.

Additionally, he helped the Eagles become only the second team in NFL history to rush for multiple rushing touchdowns and at least 150 yards in six straight games.

Barkley revealed that while he enjoys being considered for MVP, he has a higher objective for his 9-2 Philadelphia team.

Barkley stated, “I love being in that conversation,” according to perNFL.com.
