Walmart+ shopper fumes over promotion ‘screwing’ longtime members and told to cancel to ‘trick the system’

A Walmart customer has been incensed after being left out of a promotion.

They maintained that the tail giant ought to have made the offer to everyone who paid for its membership program.

The subscription to that service, Walmart+, costs $98 per year and provides a number of important advantages.

Members receive a Paramount+ membership, fuel discounts of up to 10 cents per gallon, free delivery on all purchases with no minimum order charge, and early access to Black Friday bargains.

Walmart recently announced that it would be lowering the annual charge for new members by 50% in an effort to encourage more customers to sign up.

It is exclusively available to new Walmart+ members and runs until December 2.

This didn’t sit well with some Walmart customers because it implies that loyal members who are just renewing their subscription at the end of the year can’t profit.

David, a longtime Walmart+ member, contended that the discount ought to be available to individuals who already have memberships.

FAIRNESS CHECK

Although a workaround for the promotion’s exclusivity was suggested to him, David believed it shouldn’t be required.

“Hey @Walmart tried to renew my #Walmart+ membership at the discounted rate you offer for new members was told I had to cancel my membership and then sign up again if I wanted the discount,” he wrote in aposton X earlier in the month.

“Pretty awful that you would not offer this to your longtime existing members.”

Walmart promptly replied, giving the irate consumer a more thorough explanation of the circumstances.

“At this time, the offer is available for all new, trial, and monthly members,” the retail behemoth stated.

“However, this offer is not currently available for existing annual members.”

“We frequently have promotions available, so we’d encourage you to check back regularly for any new deals!” Walmart was added.

David was unsatisfied with the retailer’s response and accused Walmart of “screwing over [its] longtime members by not giving them the same price break.”

FEATURE FURY

The Scan & Go feature, which is one of Walmart+’s greatest advantages and is accessible through the retailer’s mobile app, has also been problematic lately.

As customers browse the shop and add goods to their cart, Walmart+ members can use their phones to scan the products they wish to purchase.

For a quick and simple payment process, the app then creates a unique barcode for each purchase that can be scanned at self-checkout.

Many loyal consumers are upset with the change, claiming it simply made their shopping trips more challenging and resulted in lengthier queues.

Others are still upset that Walmart won’t accept a particular payment method, so they protest by leaving their purchases behind and leaving the store.
