Subway silently axes $6.99 meal deal after less than a month – but customers can still grab low price
Less than a month after its debut, SUBWAY was forced to quickly discontinue its $6.99 meal deal, which was intended to entice customers.
Nevertheless, fans of the subchain can still get the discounted meal offer.
Due to the ongoing impact of inflation on consumers’ wallets, many are reducing their discretionary spending including eating out.
Like several of its fast food rivals, Subway has launched a number of specials this year in an effort to attract these frugal eaters.
In May, for instance, the company gave guests a deal: purchase one footlong, get one free.
Subway then introduced a $6.99 offer on any footlong in August.

But the most recent Subway bargain was a letdown.
According to Restaurant Business Magazine, which saw a business message informing operators of the change, the restaurant discontinued the $6.99 Meal Deal less than a month after it first launched.
A chef-crafted or bespoke six-inch sub, a small fountain drink, plus a choice of two normal cookies or chips are all included in the package.
DEAL DUD
On November 3, the $6.99 Meal Deal was introduced to Subway stores. As of Wednesday, November 27, customers will no longer be able to order the meal in-restaurant.
Subway had planned for the deal to run until the final week of December when it was first announced.
The promotion will be removed off the menu about one month sooner than anticipated due to the in-restaurant cancellation.
Due to its poor performance, the $6.99 Meal Deal was removed off the menu.
“The Meal Deal was designed to help drive a lift in traffic, sales, and, ultimately, restaurant-level profitability, and delivered on these objectives during the market test,” the operator of Subway was told.
“While the national Meal Deal promotion is delivering the expected number of daily redemptions, overall, the promotion is not driving the anticipated results.”
The $6.99 Meal Deal will no longer be available, although it won’t be entirely eliminated.
