Stop and Shop customer waits ‘triple amount of time’ just to avoid self checkout switch – staff still had to assist
Grocery stores are facing criticism for their decision to promote self-checkout kiosks.
Shopcustomer recently aired her worries to AStop.
Additionally, that regional retailer is not the only one encountering resistance.
CHECKOUT WOES
The purpose of self-checkouts is to make shopping easy for customers.
Some have been irritated with them as they have been implemented around the country in the last ten years.
Some hostility, which frequently erupts on social media, has been stoked by worries that technology may replace human cashiers.

Theresa, a Facebook user, declared in a statement that she would stop shopping at any chain that has self-checkout kiosks.
I’m going to stop shopping at your store! She penned.
She proposed that self-checkout machines might become more prevalent if people shopped in locations having them.
“They will continue to push the non-human agenda if we just keep doing it,” she remarked. I’ll try my hardest to avoid being involved in that.
Teresa claimed that she spends more time in line at Stop & Shop, which has self-checkouts, in order to avoid using the machines.
“I’ve avoided self-checkout and waited three times as long in line with a cashier,” she added.
She asked employees to assist her at another store.
For customers who dislike the automated process, the majority of establishments using self-checkout devices also employ cashiers.
Theresa, however, advocated for a boycott to force stores to resume providing human services.
Some people who communicate with her on social media are not very hopeful that it will succeed.
One person said, “Then you won’t be shopping.” Employees at large stores are being replaced to work in different capacities.
“Sorry, but no company cares and customer service has left the building,” they added.
CHECKED OUT
Some people are less negative about the rise of machines, while others are irritated.
According to some experts, self-checkout machines are here to stay, whether you like them or not.
Self-checkout machines do have drawbacks for businesses, though, such as a decline in client loyalty.
