Juan Soto ‘makes next MLB team decision’ and will sign for New York Yankees rival in historic $700 million contract
Juan Suto will join a rival team of the New York Yankees, according to a former Major League Baseball player.
According to the most recent report, Soto, who played for the New York Yankees in 2024, is expected to receive an extension for over $600 million, although the 26-year-old is reportedly receiving a $700 million contract.
Carlos Baerga, a former Major League Baseball player, posted on social media that he has heard rumors that Soto will sign a $700 million contract with the New York Mets, the Yankees’ crosstown rivals.
“These messages are flowing straight to my people. On Tuesday night, Baerga stated, “I believe Juan Soto will sign with the NY Mets, and it is approximately 700 million, my people.”
He also reported that Jose Siri, a new center fielder for the Mets, stated that if Soto were to join the organization, he would trade his No. 22 jersey for him.
Soto and the Mets, who are in the running among the Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Toronto Blue Jays, have not yet confirmed their involvement.

After leaving the Major League Baseball in 2005, he has been a commentator for ESPN’s coverage of Spanish baseball.
After playing with the Yankees in the 2024 season, which ended in a World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Soto is now a free agent.
Along with Aaron Judge, the lefty was a member of the Yankees’ potent 2-3 batting order and hammered 41 home runs during the regular season.
The Yankees may decide to sign former Mets slugger Pete Alonso, a free agent, if Soto chooses the Mets.
The Yankees need first-base support after turning down Anthony Rizzo’s club option.
The Mets lost to the Dodgers in six games in the NLCS last season.
They had the third-worst MLB record in June after overcoming a terrible start to the season.
On Tuesday, Soto teased followers on Instagram by posting an announcement with the description, “The announcement you have been waiting for.”
His statement was actually a promotion for a collaboration with the energy drink company Celcius.
Fans of the Yankees can find hope on Soto’s extension in the Instagram post’s comment section.
On the post, the four-time MLB All-Star liked a comment that said, “Juan, you’re making me anxious! You are welcome in New York #Yankeesforlife #pinstripepride.
According to NJ.com, Soto now has five official offers.
“Gauge genuine interest from all parties,” The Athletic reports, is the purpose of the early bids.
The first week of December will see the anticipated second or further rounds of bidding, which may continue into the Baseball Winter Meetings, which are held from December 8 to 14.

Soto would have at least the second-largest U.S. contract in all of professional sports if he were to sign a deal worth more than $600 million.
