Best friends who played video games together for four YEARS without meeting – finally shake hands in reality
After four years of playing online games together without ever meeting in person, a PAIR of “best friends” have finally touched hands in real life.
In 2020, Bjetka Alzbeta Zmelikova, a 25-year-old from Prague, and Jacob Stewart, a 26-year-old American who lives in London, met electronically in the game Among Us and became friends online right away.
They have played hundreds of games together over the years and spent more than a thousand hours together virtually.
And now Bjetka is flying from Prague to London to see Jacob.
According to Bjetka, COVID meant that everything was essentially canceled for me, so I spent a lot of time playing video games online.
Through a Discord conversation created especially for the game, I met Jacob after my sister introduced me to the game Among Us.

I truly relied on internet contacts for my mental health throughout the time of lockdown, and the friendship helped me get over the loneliness of that period.
“Meeting Bjetka in person and getting to play games together in person was fantastic,” Jacob remarked.
The opportunity to meet up before our wedding, which is next year, makes it even more memorable because my fiancé and I believed it would be our first time meeting in person.
While she’s in London, we’re even planning a small stag party.
Gamers from all over the world came together for the first time to play on the recently introduced C2 Ultra and PX3 Pro at Hisense’s Game At First Sight event at Aures in Waterloo.
Among them were Edd Pearson, 44, of Hertfordshire, and Luke Brewton, 36, of Hailsham. They have been playing video games together for 15 years and talk every day while doing so, but they have never met in person.
According to Edd, we have supported one another through all of life’s ups and downs, including the birth of our children, relationship breakups, and more.
The idea that this is our first time really meeting in person is absurd.
The event also marked the first meeting of 26-year-old Stefica Schwarz of Montreal, Canada, and 32-year-old Robyn Bruce of East Kilbride, Scotland.
Despite never having met in person, they regard one another as best friends.
Robyn even received virtual assistance from Stefica in choosing an outfit for her first date with her present partner.
The event was hosted by well-known online gamers Mr. Gibbon from Ireland (who has over 100,000 Twitch subscribers) and Anna Demetriou from the UK (who has over 35,000 Twitch subscribers), who are acquainted online but had never met in person.
Speaking on the event, Mr. Gibbon said: “Since I don’t think people realize how much online gaming leads to people forming really strong friendships, hosting this event has been amazing.”
For many, having gaming pals online can significantly enhance mental health since they offer a network of support that many people may find difficult to obtain in their offline lives.
A study conducted by the electronics manufacturer on 600 online gamers revealed that 57% of them have buddies they have never met in person.
Even though they don’t truly know who their online buddies are outside of the gaming community, nearly three out of ten (28%) of them communicate with them several times a day.
However, almost three-quarters (73%) believe they have developed deep friendships with someone they have only met through gaming.
According to data from OnePoll.com, up to 48% of respondents also think that the sense of community that online gaming fosters is extremely essential to them.
More than half (54%) of respondents claim that their online gaming friendships have aided them in meeting like-minded individuals.
Additionally, 29% say they have helped them get through a difficult period, and 37% say they have made them feel less alone.
