Unthinkable Tragedy: Sarah McNally’s Family Mourns Her Death in New York Pub Incident
Debarylife – An Irish woman’s family in New York stated they are “heartbroken” by her passing. She was stabbed in the neck inside an Irish pub.
Working at Ceili House on Grand Avenue in Queens, Sarah McNally, 41, was stabbed in the neck on Saturday at approximately 6.30 p.m. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and later declared deceased.
A hospital patient who sustained stab wounds to his neck and back is still in critical condition.
Originally from County Longford, Ms. McNally spent around ten years residing in New York. She worked at the adjacent Ceili House in Maspeth and resided in Flushing, Queens.
Mary McNally, Ms. McNally’s aunt, expressed her “heartbreak” over her passing. “Rest in peace, my beautiful niece Sarah, we are heartbroken,” she wrote in a social media tribute. Always love you.”
Margaret Gaffey, the aunt of Ms. McNally, continued, “My beautiful niece was stolen too soon. Love you.
A mourner remarked, “Sarah had such a beautiful soul. “May her soul rest in peace.” Someone else said, “She was a beautiful girl.”
Her father, Des, mother, Dorrie, and other family members survive Ms. McNally.
Police, according to sources, are looking into a specific area of interest. Up till now, no one has been taken into custody.

“Police responded to a 911 call for an assault in progress at 69-56 Grand Avenue within the confines of the 104 Precinct on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at approximately 18:34,” a DCPI spokesman stated.
“When the police arrived, they saw a male who was not named who had been stabbed in the back and neck and a female who was 41 years old and had a neck wound.
“EMS arrived and took both of the helping people to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst in critical condition. Staff members at the hospital later declared the 41-year-old woman dead. The investigation is still being conducted.
Following the revelation, Co. Longford residents were shocked and depressed, according to Fianna Fail Councillor Seamus Butler.
“When something like this happens overseas, it’s so much more difficult,” he remarked, expressing his sympathy for her family from here in Longford. Hopefully, the family will be able to take advantage of the available services.
In recent months, Ms. McNally is the second Irishwoman to die in New York. On October 21, 2023, Co Louth resident Denise Morgan, 39, was shot and killed at her Queens home.
The 33-year-old Joed Taveras shot Ms. Morgan to death before pulling the trigger on himself. Before Taveras killed her, Ms. Morgan intended to break up with him and move out, according to her sisters, who spoke to IrishStar.com.
The woman with a single child was told that her life had been “stolen from her” and that she would never see justice served.
