Trump picks son-in-law Jared Kushner’s dad Charles for key ambassador role after he was pardoned over ‘loathsome crime’
President-Elect Charles Kushner, the father of son-in-law Jared Kushner, has been nominated by Donald Trump for a significant diplomatic position.
In his most recent choice, the Republican stated on Saturday that he wanted the real estate developer to be ambassador to France.
In an ebullient post on Truth Social, Trump announced the news and referred to Charles Kushner as a “tremendous businessleader, philanthropist, and dealmaker.”
“Congratulations to Charlie, his amazing wife Seryl, their four children, and their fourteen grandchildren,” he continued.
“Together, we will strengthen America s partnership withFrance, our oldest Ally, and one of our greatest!”
The founder of the real estate company Kushner Companies, Kushner is the son of a Holocaust survivor.

The president-elect’s eldest daughter, Ivanka, is married to his son, Jared Kushner, a former top Trump aide.
Jared has prior experience with the Abraham Accords, criminal justice reform, and Operation Warp Speed.
In December 2020, Trump pardoned his father, Charles Kushner, who had pleaded guilty years before to tax evasion and unlawful campaign contributions.
For the tax fraud conviction, the father of four was given a sentence of over two years in prison; nevertheless, he only spent 14 months in federal prison.
During his first administration, Trump totally pardoned 26 people, including Charles.
Charles, according to the prosecution, plotted retaliation after learning that his brother-in-law was assisting federal investigators.

Prosecutors claimed that Kushner even hired a prostitute to woo his brother-in-law, had the encounter captured on video, and had his sister, the man’s wife, get a recording of everything that happened.
Kushner ultimately entered a guilty plea to 18 charges, including witness tampering and tax evasion.
In 2005, he received a two-year prison sentence.
This was less than what Chris Christie, the US lawyer for New Jersey at the time, had requested, but it was the maximum he could get under a plea agreement.
At the time, he declared: “This office will bring you to justice if you have broken federal law in the district of New Jersey or if you are corrupting our political system, regardless of how wealthy and powerful you are or how poor and powerless you are.
“Today, Charles Kushner was brought to justice.”
Jared Kushner was fired from Trump’s transition team in 2016, and Christie has blamed him for it.
He has also described the crimes committed by Charles Kushner as “one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes” that he has ever prosecuted.
Trump said that Jared’s father had “devoted” himself to “important philanthropic organizations and causes” over the years when he pardoned Charles.

At the time, Trump stated: “His record of reform andcharityovershadows Mr. Kushner s conviction and two year sentence for preparing false tax returns, witness retaliation, and making false statements to the Federal Election Commission.”
In his announcement on Saturday, the president-elect made no reference to Charles’ conviction or pardon.
