Andy Reid breaks silence on Kansas City Chiefs star who was officially benched after Patrick Mahomes struggles
On Friday, Andy Reid was compelled to defend his choice to bench one of Patrick Mahomes’ defenders.
The head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs was questioned for his late-game call to hook Wanya Morris.
In the Las Vegas Raiders’ 19–17 victory on Black Friday, Patrick Mahomes was fired five times.
In an attempt to alter the protection, Reid also made the decision to remove Morris from the lineup.
“He was having some difficulties, Wanya,” Reid acknowledged.
Put Mike Caliendo in at guard and Joe Thuney over there.

“That was the right thing to do at that time.”
This season, Kansas City has struggled with front-line protection.
Reid disclosed that he discussed the choice with Andy Heck, the offensive line coach.
Reid stated, “I discussed it with Andy.”
“He approved of it, so we took that action to simply make things official.
“Patrick Mahomes took a few hits there, and so we were struggling at times.”
Morris was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft and is currently in his second season with the Chiefs.
Since Kingsley Suamataia was having trouble on Mahomes’ blindside, he has filled the void created by the rookie.
Reid said of Morris, “If the quarterback is getting hit and can’t get the ball off, it’s disruptive to any offense.”
Thus, that might be an issue.
“He played against a couple of good players, but you got to do better than what we did there.”
