NBA Cup 2024: Full schedule, results, format and latest standings with new champions guaranteed as Lakers crash out

New champions will be crowned in Las Vegas as the NBA Cup nears its conclusion.

The Lakers were the winners last year afterLeBron James and company won the inaugural in-season event, defeating Indiana 123-109.

The defending champions, however, will not be keeping the trophy this year because they can’t place higher than third in West Group B after two victories and two losses.

With the 2024 NBA Cup poised to award new winners in December, SunSport has all the information you need.

How does the NBA Cup work?

30 teams are randomly assigned to groups of five within their conference based on their won-loss records from the 2023–24 regular season, and the NBACup starts with the ‘Group Play’ round.

Each squad will play two home games and two away games against each of the four teams in their group.

The six teams with the highest standing from their Group Play games and two extra wild cards—the club from each conference with the best record in Group Play games but placed second in its group—will advance to the Knockout Rounds once all 30 teams have finished their group matches.

The quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship match are the first three stages of the single-elimination knockout rounds, which are contested by eight teams.

With the exception of the championship game, all 67 games played in the NBA Cup’s two stages will be included in the regular-season rankings.
