Ubisoft shuts down one of its biggest games of this year but players can get their money back

Recently, UBISOFT declared that it would be discontinuing one of its largest launches of the year and giving gamers their money back.

Ubisoft released the free-to-play shooter XDefiantis in May, but it has already been taken out of retail locations and the in-game store has been disabled.

In a blog post, Ubisoft stated: We hate to notify you that, as of today, December 3, 2024, we are beginning the sunset process.

Consequently, there will be no more opportunities for player registrations, purchases, or new downloads. Keep checking back for additional information as Season 3 is still scheduled to premiere.

Up to June 3rd, 2025, the servers will be up and the game will be completely playable.

The game will remain open until June for anyone who joined before December 3.

Even if you have already downloaded the game, you will not be able to participate if you have never played.

The majority of XDefiant gamers can have their money back, even what they paid for in-game purchases, so it’s not all bad news.

By the end of January, XCoins purchases made after November 3 in bundles ranging from 500 to 12,000 coins will be returned straight to the payment method you used.

Refunds will also be given for some other extra material, such as any XDefiant Gold Packs, Starter Pack DLC, and Combat Pack DLC bought after the same date.

After the game closes, any XCoins or DLC that were bought before to November 3 will not be refundable and will be permanently lost.

Only a small percentage of people who bought Founder’s Packs close to the game’s release will receive their money returned.

Founder’s Pack and Founder’s Pack Elite players will not receive their money returned, but players who bought the Ultimate Founder’s Pack will receive a complete refund.

Exit Defiant

Unfortunately, the XDefiant story is becoming more and more typical in the industry, as live-service games arrive and then go in equal measure.

Many games have been released, but servers are shut down within a year before they have an opportunity to become well-known.

Unfortunately, PlayStation sConcord shattered records by debuting and shutting down in just two weeks, thus XDefiant isn’t even the worst case of this in 2024.
