Final chance for pet owners to get one-time payment from $825k poop bag settlement – and no proof of purchase is needed
Customers have a limited amount of time to collect a portion of the $825,000 settlement fund reached in a recent class action lawsuit involving compostable dog waste bags.
Pet owners who file their claims by the deadline of Monday, December 9th are eligible for a direct payout from Earth Rated, a dog supply company.
Anyone who purchased the poop bags between October 28, 2015, and June 13, 2024, is eligible to get a reimbursement of $2 for each pack, up to a maximum of three packs. They are not even required to provide evidence of purchase.
However, it’s even better if they have order records, invoices, or receipts because that way, they can claim as many packs as they like from the poop bag settlement.
In response to a lawsuit alleging that Earth Rated misrepresented its compostable excrement bags, the $825,000 prize was issued.
Customers filed the lawsuit against the business, claiming they were duped into thinking the bags were biodegradable when they weren’t.

The plaintiffs claimed that although the bags were advertised as decomposing in compost, they did not.
However, Earth Rated disputes any misconduct and maintains that the bags are biodegradable.
Instead of pursuing legal action with all of the associated costs and uncertainties, both parties chose to settle the lawsuit.

What’s a class-action settlement?
Class action lawsuits give ‘classes,’ or groups of people, a legal means of organization.
These lawsuits are frequently filed by one or a small number of persons who believe a business or other organization has harmed a sizable number of people.
All “class members,” or individuals who might have similar grievances to those who filed the suit, are covered when a lawsuit turns into a class action.
Businesses frequently pay class members to settle lawsuits; in exchange, class members usually give up their right to file a lawsuit.
The defendant’s denials of culpability are often included in these compensation agreements. In order to minimize the expenses of additional litigation, businesses typically settle class lawsuits.
A class action lawsuit may be brought against a business for a variety of reasons, such as pollution, discrimination, or deceptive advertising.
