Eminem performs for the first time since mom’s tragic death and sings controversial song about her

For the first time since his mother Debbie passed away last week, Eminem took the stage again last night.

The performance, part of the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix, marked the 51-year-old Slim Shady rapper’s first public appearance.

Six days after his mother Debbie Nelson passed away, the concert was held at the capital of the United Arab Emirates’ Ethiad Park.

On Monday, December 2, Debbie passed away following a fight with severe lung cancer.

She had been separated from Eminem, whose real name was Marshall Mathers, for years prior to her passing due to a number of court disputes.

Even his smash song Without Me, in which he famously yells, “F**k you, Debbie,” was a song about their tense relationship.

And he played that exact song during his show last night.

Given the death of his mother, fans weren’t sure if he would perform the lyrics, but he decided to let the public sing it instead of altering them.

For years, his shows have been characterized by the audience singing this specific line.

Tiktokker @knoxy295 posted video from the performance that shows Eminem refraining from using the profanity when referring to his mother.

The award-winning artist’s decision to refrain from singing the lyrics himself thrilled one admirer.

They wrote on the X: “Kinda glad when he preformed without me he didn’t say ‘f** you debbie'”

According to another, “He shouldn’t have said f u Debbie since she just died.”

According to a third, “She was dead to him a long time ago.”

One more person said, “He can do what he wants.”

Since the death of his mother, Eminem has not yet made a public statement.

After receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer in 2010, the couple is thought to have gotten back together, and he promised to stop singing songs about her, such as the diss hit Cleanin’ Out My Closet.

However, nothing is known about the condition of their relationship before to Debbie’s death.

Eminem gave his hometown eatery the moniker Mom’s Spaghetti in 2021, referencing a line from his song “Lose Yourself.”

Debbie openly applauded her son the next year when he was elected into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame.
