Tommy Fury’s former opponent Genadij Krajevskij dies aged 37 as tributes pour in for boxer
Boxer Genadij Krajevskij passed away at the age of 37, and tributes are flooding in.
During his eight-year professional career, the Lithuanian journeyman, who was defeated by Tommy Fury four years ago, was adored by British fans.
Messages of condolence were sent in abundance, as were compliments and love for the “true warrior” from Merseyside’s behavior in the ring.
He was described as a “lovely fella” and “one of the real characters of the fight game” by fans.
The Midlands Area Council of the British Boxing Board of Control posted: “The Baltic Bomber frequently adorned the away corner in the Midlands area.
“He was always a delight to be around in and out of the ring.”
VIPBoxing Promotions expressed “deep sorrow” upon learning of Krakevskij’s passing.
They continued: “We had the honour of featuring him in the VIP Shows on multiple occasions.”
Krakevskij was referred to have a “great presence at fight shows up and down the country” by licensed boxing MC Phil Seymour.
According to Stockbridge Amateur Boxing Club, “RIP to a proper fighter.”
“Terrible sad news, RIP Genadij Krajevskij a true warrior, and a lovely fella,” wrote revered referee Mark Lyson on social media.
Throughout his long career, Krakevskij faced well-known players like Bradley Rea, Macauley MacGowan, and Gerome Warburton.
Additionally, he was stopped just nine times in his 76 fights, although losing 75 of them.
Four years ago, inside the BT Sport Studio in Stratford, he was stopped by Love Island star Fury two rounds into their fight.
In August of current year, Krakevskij lost to 26-year-old Levi Vaughan of the Midlands in four rounds.
