Moment ‘Assad family’s secret escape tunnels are found under palace in raid by Syrian rebels’ after regime is toppled

FOOTAGE purports to depict the interior of the Assad family’s clandestine underground tunnel system, which was made public following the overthrow of the brutal regime by opposition troops.

A white staircase that descends to an extensive system of passageways can be seen in footage that appears to have been taken inside Major General Maher al-Assad’s residence.

One of the rebels who stormed the capital Damascus and looted the Assad residences this past weekend allegedly captured it on camera.

Amazing video reveals the tunnel complex’s enormous rooms, automatic doors, high arched ceilings, and sophisticated lighting.

The eerie video showed a completely furnished kitchen with Pepsi cans and Tetley tea, a contemporary living room and bathroom, and trashed shopping bags.

During his family’s violent rule, Maher al-Assad, the brother of now-exiled President Assad, served as a major general and oversaw a special unit of the Syrian Army.

The footage was purportedly shot beneath his Damascus mansion.

The headline read: “Massive tunnel complex beneath Maher Assad’s mansion, wide enough for trucks carrying Captagon and gold to drive through.”

The floor of one of the enormous rooms was covered in abandoned present boxes and shopping bags.

One seemed to be carrying a wooden box covered with gold.

After President Bashar Al-Assad ruled Syria for 24 years, the government was overthrown by rebels yesterday after a 10-day lightning strike.

Vladimir Putin, Assad’s friend and fellow autocrat, gave him asylum, and Assad flew from the capital to Moscow on Sunday.

In celebration, thousands of Syrians lit fireworks, waved the rebel flag, and fired firearms into the air as they took to the streets.

In addition, happy combatants shared video from inside Assad’s presidential residence, commemorating his amazing fall from grace.

The rebels pillaged the palace, stealing valuables like Louis Vuitton and other valuables from each chamber.

In one video, duvets and linen bed linens were strewn all over the floor as dozens of individuals raided the cupboards.

While others carried bags brimming with pilfered goods, someone was observed with an orange Louis Vuitton box.

After militants broke into Assad’s garage, which was filled with Mercedes, Ferraris, and Audis, it is believed that dozens of his expensive cars were also taken.

While the Iraqi embassy was evacuated to Lebanon, militants raided and ransacked the Italian and Iranian embassies.

Syrian opposition troops declared in a televised announcement on Monday morning that they had overthrown the Assad government and taken Damascus.

From within the capital’s Umayyad Mosque, leader Abu Mohammed al Jolani gave the command for his soldiers to withdraw to their bases.

“A victory to the Islamic nation” is how he described the overthrow of Assad.

In the meantime, the United States launched more than 75 pinpoint airstrikes on the nation to stop the Islamic terror group ISIS from seizing power.

To stop the resurgence of the terror cult in Syria, the United States maintains about 900 troops there, including those collaborating with Kurdish partners in the northeast.

Following the start of the civil war 13 years ago, ISIS established a caliphate over a sizable portion of Syria, controlling a third of the nation at one point.

Since then, it has lost most of its territory and authority in the region.
