Donald Trump said that Prince William informed him that Princess Kate is “doing well” and that King Charles is “fighting very hard” during their Paris meeting.
The 42-year-old Prince of Wales traveled to the French city on Saturday to attend the Notre Dame Cathedral’s ceremonial reopening after a devastating fire in 2019.
Following its conclusion, he met with Mr. Trump at the British ambassador’s home.
In a subsequent interview with the New York Post, Mr. Trump, 78, disclosed additional details on their chat.
The two talked on the health of Charles and the Princess of Wales, who both received cancer diagnoses this year.

“And I asked him about his father and his father is fighting very hard, and he loves his father and he loves his wife, so it was sad.”

In February, the Palace reported that King Charles had been diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer.

After finishing her cancer treatment almost four months ago, Kate is gradually returning to public activities.
Prior to Mr. Trump turning to reporters and saying, “Wow, what a nice group,” the two had clasped hands and exchanged greetings.

After the occasion, William asked the president-elect if he had warmed up.
In response, Mr. Trump said that “it was a beautiful ceremony” and that he had.
“Hello everyone” was uttered by Mr. Trump as the two men stood side by side, facing the reporters. He then gestured to William and remarked, “He’s doing a fantastic job.”

The Notre Dame Cathedral took more than 200 years to build, yet in 2019, a fierce fire nearly destroyed it in a matter of hours.
President Emmanuel Macron promised to repair the Gothic masterpiece within five years following the tragic fire.
A staggering $1 billion restoration effort was initiated, involving the installation of almost 1,600 tons of scaffolding.
The cathedral’s restoration has involved 2,000 laborers and more than 1,000 artisans working nonstop.
The massive frame of the roof was recreated by builders using 1,200 oak trees from 200 French woodlands.
It had to hold 210 tons of lead spread across 4,000 square meters.
The 96-meter spire, which was originally constructed in 1859, was also rebuilt using more than 1,000 pieces of wood, the largest of which were up to 12 meters long.
The elaborate medieval architecture was recreated by 60 carpenters and timber hewers using methods not seen for such a large construction in decades.
To restore the vaults, almost 1,000 cubic meters of additional stone were required.
It took eight months to disassemble, clean, and restore the Grand Organ’s 8,000 pipes.
The bells on the north tower underwent a similar procedure, which was no small accomplishment since the largest one weighs four tons.
During a visit last month, President Macron said, “You have achieved what was thought impossible.”
