Macomb County woman found guilty in death of ex-boyfriend’s son she beat in 2015
FOX 2: MACOMB COUNTY, MIEight years after her ex-boyfriend’s son suffered serious injuries, a jury found a woman guilty of his death.
Almost ten years have passed since Nicolas Kuras, then 14 months old, was admitted to the hospital in 2015.
A year later, in 2016, Hilary Ulp was convicted of First Degree Child Abuse of her then-boyfriend’s son. In the Michigan Department of Corrections, she received a term of eleven to thirty years.
According to officials, Kuras passed away on January 7, 2021, at the age of nearly 7.
Following his passing, Ulp was charged with Felony Murder, a crime for which he faces a life sentence without the chance of release.
A Macomb County jury convicted her guilty on Monday, and she will be punished on January 28, 2025.
“I hope the innocent youngster whose life was sadly cut short receives some justice from today’s verdict. This case serves as a reminder that everyone has a duty to safeguard those who are most in need. “The jury’s verdict reflects the seriousness of the defendant’s crimes, which were not only criminal but also unconscionable,” stated Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido.
