USPS mailing date deadlines to know for the Christmas holiday

This year, Thanksgiving and Christmas are separated by five days.

FOX 2-There are crucial dates to remember when mailing that ideal holiday present.

“Start early because if you wait until the last minute you’re going to be in a little bit of trouble,” USPS customer Chuck Tanghe said.

And the calendar this year is a solid justification for it, according to Susan Wright of the USPS.

“This year we had five less days between Thanksgiving and Christmas,” she stated. “Our deadlines are certainly approaching.”

This also includes any deadlines you have to meet with the USPS.

“The first one is December 18th and that is for our ground advantage product which is a new product,” Wright stated. “It is a reliable, more affordable product if you make that Dec. 18th deadline.”

The deadline for first-class mail is December 18.

“Things like your Christmas cards, the dreaded Christmas newsletter, any item that is up to 13 ounces,” she continued.

December 19th is the next deadline you don’t want to miss.

“This deadline for priority mail is December 19,” Wright stated. “And Dec. 21stis the deadline for our premiere product which is priority mail express so procrastinators will pay a premium price when shipping a package that late, but we do offer that.”

Additionally, every child wants to know if they still have time to write Santa a letter.

“December 9this the deadline for letter writers to our ,” she stated. “Anyone can use our Elf Road address to send a letter to Santa, and we will post it as long as it has a stamp and a return address. Additionally, letter adopters can peruse letters and potentially grant a desire to a person in need.

“We have the capacity in the postal service processing up to 60 million pieces per day so we are prepared to deliver the holidays for our customers,” she stated.
