Best Buy makes major delivery change just in time for the holidays but you need to watch the weight
Some consumers may benefit from BEST Buy’s major delivery operations updates this Christmas season.
Customers who place orders with the tech retailer will be able to choose when their items are delivered.
In an earnings call last month, CEO Corie Barry said that it is a component of the new scheduled delivery service.
As long as an order is placed up to seven days in advance, Best Buy customers can choose the precise day that an item will arrive at their home with scheduled delivery.
They can also limit the time window to within two hours after choosing the day.
The perk’s sole restriction is that it can only be used to tiny things that weigh no more than fifty pounds.

The scheduled delivery option is available in four major US cities as of December.
This holiday season, customers in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, and Minneapolis should be able to choose the choice via Best Buy’s website.
Best Buy told Supply Chain Dive that a nationwide rollout is scheduled for some point in 2025.
Best Buy added that it could work with “a few” businesses it wouldn’t name to finish scheduled deliveries.
“Scheduled delivery was brought to Best Buy with customers in mind, offering them more “convenience, confidence and control,” Barry said during the results call.
In the past year, Best Buy has made a number of improvements pertaining to delivery.
CONTINUED DEVELOPMENTS
Earlier this summer, a live-tracking feature was added for Best Buy customers who ordered big appliances that needed to be installed, like TVs or refrigerators.
On the way to their house, they could see where the driver was with their item; the interface was comparable to that of food delivery services like DoorDash or Uber Eats.
“Overwhelmingly positive,” Barry said, was the customer response on that option.
The CEO went on to say that Best Buy was also saving money since they were receiving a lot less calls to customer care regarding orders.
Best Buy Scheduled Delivery
For smaller purchases, Best Buy now offers scheduled delivery.
- It’s currently available to customers in four cities
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Chicago, Illinois
- Houston, Texas
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Items must weigh less than 50lbs
- The delivery day must be determined at least seven days after the order
- The time window on the delivery day can be narrowed within two hours
Additionally, the scheduled delivery capability was already available for orders of large products that required installation.
Additionally, Best Buy developed an AI virtual assistant in early 2024 that assists consumers with a number of additional difficulties, including scheduling deliveries.
BUYER BLOWBACK
Although the improvements are warmly received, some customers have recently begun criticizing Best Buy.
Returns irritated some people.
Someone said they discovered “discrepancies” in the return policy of the retailer.
After the “worst experience” with customer support, another threatened to boycott Best Buy and take all of their merchandise.
Some mentioned lengthy waits.

After making a transaction, a client said they were left “waiting an hour” to receive a receipt.
Additionally, Best Buy came under fire for allegedly having a 29-hour wait when a consumer asked for a quick “fix” for an item.
