Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum readies for West Bloomfield move: ‘It’s going to be emotional’

It is going to relocate to a larger, almost three-fold larger facility in West Bloomfield. However, Jeremy Yagoda says it will be bittersweet to leave.
“It s going to be very emotional walking away from here,” he stated. “It s gonna be tough, but I m excited about what’s to come.”
The late Marvin himself is the father of Jeremy. With a diverse collection of mechanical games and toys that evoke many nostalgic recollections, it has been a fixture in Farmington Hills for more than 30 years.
Marvin’s was either going to have to close or relocate because of a planned strip mall renovation.
“It pushed us into the corner to decide to do it the next level, to expand, to have private party rooms, to have more space, expand things out to add new attractions,” Yagoda stated.
Jeremy claims that after months of looking, he finally discovered the ideal location in a huge building in West Bloomfield, which is only a mile up the road. The initial, exclusive peek was offered to FOX 2.
“I can’t wait to add my own twist on it. I will make some little adjustments, but I will never completely abandon the atmosphere and concept that my dad created here.”
Moving hundreds of games and delicate mementos by the end of February is the next difficult phase.
However, the museum has a ton of strange items that have been there for decades. The majority of it is extremely unusual and delicate; for instance, how in the world are they going to transport “the tallest man in the world”?
“I m still trying to figure all that out, one step at a time,” Yagoda stated. “We re going to start with getting all the games out, and then work our way up to taking everything off the walls.”
A museum exhibit called “The Brain” was consulted by FOX 2 to get his opinion on the move.
