Fox and CBS set for NFL ratings battle with major broadcasting change and Tom Brady going head to head with Tony Romo
This Sunday, Tom Brady and Tony Romo will square off in two crucial NFL matchups that fall within the same window.
During Sunday’s Week 15 action, both Fox and CBS are permitted to show a doubleheader.
And because the two biggest games of the day are playing at the same time, the networks are now engaged in a ratings war.
At 4:25 p.m. ET, Brady will be a member of the Fox team that calls the Battle of Pennsylvania.
The Philadelphia Eagles, who lead the NFC East, take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, who top the AFC North.
With a 10-3 record, the Steelers head across state to Lincoln Financial Field to take on an 11-2 Philadelphia club.

For the matchup, former NFL quarterback Brady and Kevin Burkhardt will be in the radio booth.
At 4:25 p.m. ET, CBS will be at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, for a major game of their own.
The game between the 10-3 Buffalo Bills and the 12-1 Detroit Lions could be a preview of the Super Bowl.
Romo, a former Dallas Cowboys signal caller, will accompany Jim Nantz on the CBS broadcast for that game.
NFL games between 1 pm ET and 4 pm ET are owned by Fox and CBS.
Every week, one network is permitted to air a double header at 1 pm ET and 4.25 pm ET.
Only one window—1 pm ET or 4.05 pm ET—can be used by the other firm to broadcast games.
Over 20 million people nationwide often watch the lead game at 4:25 p.m. ET.
However, Fox and CBS should anticipate a minor decline in viewership from their rival network.
Fox and CBS were able to broadcast doubleheaders in Week 1 and Week 18 until this year.
This year, the NFL moved that to Weeks 15 and 18.
“Is it better to do it later in the season when you have a better sense of where all the teams are and how to get the right teams into those windows?” asked Hans Schroeder, executive vice president of NFLMedia, as reported by the Associated Press.
We keep adjusting and changing. We have an opportunity to look at things that we wouldn’t have in Week One if teams play their way forward.
On Sunday, Fox and CBS will each broadcast six games within their two slots.
