On the evening of Wednesday, December 11, the explosion took place.

The New York City Fire Department has been contacted by The U.S. Sun for comment.

It comes after thousands of subway passengers were left trapped underground during the Wednesday evening rush hour in Downtown Brooklyn due to a power outage.

Just before 5:30 p.m., four different subway lines experienced disruptions due to a power outage between the Jay Street/MetroTech and Hoyt-Schermerhorn stations.

All of the lines—A, C, F, and G—had to be rerouted or lost power.

Two F trains carrying about 3,500 passengers had to be evacuated after losing power.
