Warren first responders hold Christmas parade for 7-year-old son of injured officer

(FOX 2) Warren, Mich.For 7-year-old Jack Kott, a surprise Christmas parade was made by a convoy of first-responder vehicles, including police and fire trucks, with lights and sirens turned on.

Numerous vehicles were decked out in Christmas lights, and Santa even made an appearance in a SWAT van that was decked out.

Jack is the son of Warren Police Officer Nick Kott, who suffered injuries last month after losing all feeling below his neck after falling from a tree stand while hunting.

“To put it mildly, it’s been a difficult task,” Warren police Lt. John Gajewski said.

With his wife by his side, Officer Kott is recuperating at an out-of-state hospital. The police department wanted to make Jack’s Christmas especially special because it is a difficult circumstance for any parent or child.

“All of these guys are buddies of your dad, Jack. To wish you a Merry Christmas, several of them traveled from Warren,” Santa stated.

Jack and his pals received gifts and were taken by surprise.

Officer Kott and his wife were able to watch the march live on the internet.

The Warren Police Department wished to offer Officer Kott and his family the following message of support:

“You re going to be taken care of, as long as we re here,” Gajewski replied. We consider you a member of our family. Family takes care of family, and you will always be family.
