9-year-old Lions fan earns ticket to Bills game for collecting cans for families in need

(FOX 2) Clarkston, Mich.The headliner at Ford Field won’t be on the field when the Lions play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Even though he is only nine years old, he will be in the stands.

Mason Bonds is his name. He is a 9-year-old Pine Knob Elementary student who won a school-wide food drive competition by gathering 411 non-perishable food cans to aid underprivileged families. more than any other pupil.

“The teacher said Ms. Majestic and everybody was screaming so we couldn’t hear my name,” Bonds recalled. “I couldn t hear my name but I already knew cause she, someone walked in and gave me the ticket to the Lions game,” Bonds recalled.

He actually won three tickets to the Bills vs. Lions game this Sunday. It was his very first game. He claims that while it feels nice to go, helping others in need feels even better.

“I hope the people that don t need anything could give the people in need stuff,” he stated.

Calvary Lutheran Church in Clarkston is where the donations are stored. The Lighthouse will then ensure that it reaches hundreds of Oakland County families. Mason’s passion isn’t the only reason this is successful; the entire school is supporting it.

According to Katrina Rivenburgh of Driven Engineered Solutions, which organized the food drive in collaboration with Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs, 9,200 items were gathered by all of the pupils. There were more than 6,000 pounds of food stuff in all.

“We collected food, as far as cans, boxes,” Rivenburgh stated. Additionally, we gathered cosmetic and wellness supplies like body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Numerous students put out their best effort, prepared flyers, and knocked on doors.

Although Bonds claims it was enjoyable, he is extremely prepared for the game. His favorite player is Gibbs. He is certain of what he will say when he meets him on Sunday.

“I m going to say, can I get an autograph?” he said.
