House fire causes family to lose everything two weeks before Christmas

DETROIT (FOX 2):Roslyn McGee’s Christmas will be difficult because of a fire that started in the basement of her west side Detroit home, destroying the house, her children’s clothing, and all of the gifts she had for them.

Only the clothes on their backs were spared because the fire, which began in the basement, spread swiftly.

It was early on Saturday morning when the fire started.

“All my kids Christmas gifts, everything we had it s gone, we have nothing,” McGee stated.

The house’s framework is intact, but the interior is in complete disarray.

“My only thought was to get my babies out, I didn t care about nothing else, just wanted my kids to be safe that s it,” she stated.

Three-year-old boy, twelve-year-old girl, and seventeen-year-old boy are the children. McGee is requesting contributions of clothing for the kids and herself. She needs women’s jeans in two extra large or size 18, women’s shirts in big or extra large, and women’s shoes in size 11; her daughter needs women’s pants in size 16/18, shoes in size 10, and a shirt in small or medium.

Large or extra large shirts, men’s size 11 shoes, and size 36/38 jeans are all worn by the oldest kid. The younger son is dressed in a boys’ size 11 shoe and a boys’ size 6/7 shirt or jeans.
