As she recounts her remarkable prize-fighting career and near-murder at the hands of her trainer and husband Jim Martin, it sees her change into boxing icon Christy Martina.
Sydney put in a lot of gym time and gained muscle for the job. A lot of trolling resulted from nasty keyboard warriors criticizing her appearance.

Others referred to her as “butterface,” “average chunky Yankee girl,” and “frumpy.”
“She’s really not very attractive,” someone else commented. I have no idea why she is so well-liked. Before I became pregnant with my youngest, I was 37 years old and had a better shape.

As the first female boxer to feature on the cover of Sports Illustrated and win the WBC title, Christy swept the boxing world by storm in the 1990s.
When she joined notorious promoter Don King’s stable in 1993, she became his first female client and was dubbed The Coal Miner’s Daughter after her father’s occupation.
Christy performed a masterclass that many believe surpassed the main event while competing on the undercard of Mike Tyson’s heavyweight world title matchup with British fighter Frank Bruno.
“I think I was in jail and they were talking about ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter,’ she’s knocking people out, she’s really exciting,” Tyson stated in a recent Netflix documentary.
“I say, ‘Get the f*** out of here.'” I soon began attending some of her fights, though.
“She strikes the crowd with a lot of powerful blows. She gave everyone what they were worth. “Put Christy Martin on my undercard,” I said.
She defeated Dakota Stone to win the WBC female super welterweight title in 2009, marking the apex of her 59-fight career.
But the following year, during a fight at their Florida home, she was shot in the chest, stabbed multiple times, and left for dead by her husband, making headlines for tragic reasons.
After Christy told Jim she wanted to leave their poisonous relationship and was dating Sherry Lusk, her high school girlfriend, the horrible episode started.
Christy remarked: “I could hear my lung gurgling, so he just stopped everything and left me lying there.” I am aware that blood is filling it up.
“He keeps coming and going from the room to check if I’ve passed away yet. ‘Please don’t let me die,’ I beg him. I apologize; I made a mistake, Jim. In actuality, I adore you.
“But I was like, ‘Oh, f*** you,’ when I realized he couldn’t let me live. You were never loved by me. The entire time, you have been a piece of s***. You have only used me; I am your personal ATM.”
When Jim finally made his way back to Christy, he shot her in the torso.
“He stands at my feet with my own pink 9mm,” Christy recalled.
“‘You don’t have the balls to shoot me,’ I told him. He also shot me.
“I’m thinking, ‘No, I don’t want to die. I must leave. I must save myself. I have to save myself somehow.”
It had long been clear that their relationship was doomed.
KNOCKOUT BLOW
Christy’s private life was the complete opposite of her career, which peaked in the early 2000s.
During a sparring session, she expressed her desire to bring in a new trainer, but Jim would not entertain the idea.
Christy said: “I was knocked out by him.” No one had ever knocked me out. I had never even been dropped.
“You can tell when you’re striking someone in the proper location. When you hit someone hard enough to knock them out, you know it.
“He was fully aware of his actions. Is it mistreatment? Yes, he is intelligent. He covered it up.
“All I wanted to do was leave him, all I wanted to do was live my life freely.”
Jim Martin was ultimately found guilty of attempted murder and given a 25-year prison sentence.
Christy suffered from serious PTSD as a result of the horrific attack. Remarkably, after losing a rematch with Stone in 2011, she made a comeback to the ring.
She lost against Mia St. John in her final bout in 2012, bringing her athletic career to an end.
Since then, she has fallen in love once more with Lisa Holewyne, her old boxing opponent whom she defeated in 2001 by unanimous decision.
