Fox NFL star Greg Olsen slams punishment decision during Dallas Cowboys game after controversial penalty
An officiating ruling against a Carolina Panthers player during the team’s defeat by the Dallas Cowboys was questioned by FOX NFL color analyst Greg Olsen.
Late in the second quarter of the Week 15 game, the former NFL standout tight end responded to the situation.
Panthers safety Xavier Woods drilled Cowboys standout wide receiver CeeDee Lamb after he grabbed a pass from quarterback Cooper Rush.
The referees convened to determine whether the action warranted a penalty even though the tackle seemed to be a clean contact on Lamb.
Olsen expressed his thoughts on the appearance of the tackle.
“In real time, it appeared as though Woods struck him in the shoulder. Keep in mind that there must be enforceable touch with the head or neck. Olsen stated, “It’s difficult to see where the contact is in live action.”

Olsen went on to say that he thought the tackle was “clean,” but the officials ultimately raised the flag and gave Woods an unwarranted roughness penalty, giving Dallas a first down and an additional 15 yards on the play.
The former Panthers legend was undoubtedly unhappy with the choice.
“Listen, if we’re going to outlaw this in the NFL then we just have to tell our defensive backs you gotta let ’em just catch it because it’s just not a penalty,” Olsen stated.
Play-by-play commentator As Olsen noted, “The hit looked bad in real time, but the replay seemed to show that Woods made the proper tackle.” Joe Davis concurred with his colleague.
Thankfully, Carolina avoided any harm to the scoreboard during the drive as a result of the call.
Rush fumbled in the red zone to ruin Dallas’ drive.
The Cowboys led 10–7 at the half after Panthers QB Bryce Young delivered an 83-yard touchdown to wide receiver Jalen Coker on the following play.
However, the Cowboys would win 30–14 in the end.
Rush gained 214 yards and three touchdowns on 18 of 29 passes.
For the third consecutive game, running back Rico Dowdle rushed for more than 100 yards.
Dallas’ season record now stands at 6-8 after the victory.
The Panthers, meanwhile, lost 3–11.
Young was sacked six times and turned the ball over four times.
Both Marshawn Kneeland and Chauncey Golston recovered after forced fumbles by Cowboys defensive lineman Marist Liufau and Osa Odighizuwa.

Young was intercepted by Israel Mukama and Eric Kendricks.
In Week 16, Carolina will play the Arizona Cardinals on the road, while Dallas will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
