Lions’ David Montgomery to miss rest of season with knee injury
Dan Campbell, coach of the Lions, discusses the team’s defeat by the Bills.
DETROIT (FOX 2):David Montgomery, one of their top talents, will not be playing since he injured his knee.
On X, ESPN reported that David Montgomery had sustained an MCL injury. Dan Campbell, the head coach, verified the details on Monday afternoon.
“He’s going to he’s going to require surgery that’ll put him out for the rest of the year” stated Campbell. “He had entered that game yesterday at some point. David is such a rough guy. He continued to play through it, and today, after having it looked out, he acknowledged it was the cause.
Although Montgomery is an excellent teammate, Campbell stated that the Lions will require another player to step up.
“Man, you are aware that we will miss him. And he’s just another one of those folks who helped us get to this point. We owe him, the rest of us. “We must continue for him,” Campbell remarked.
This season, Montgomery ran for 775 yards and 12 touchdowns. In addition, he has 341 yards from 36 catches caught.
Dan Campbell, the head coach, is set to give a press conference on Monday afternoon.
ADDITIONAL:
Montgomery’s injury is unexpected and the most recent in an apparently never-ending string of injuries to the NFC North leaders. In addition, reserve cornerback and important special teams member Khalil Dorsey broke his right leg on Sunday night, defensive tackle Alim McNeill was sidelined with a knee injury, and cornerback Carlton Davis III was sidelined with a jaw injury.
Campbell claimed that the injury that ended Aidan Hutchinson’s season earlier this year was comparable to Dorsey’s.
Compared to other NFL teams, the Lions have the most players on injured reserve.
What is an MCL injury?
(MCL) is a band of tissue on the inside of the knee that extends from the thigh to the shin.
When the outside of the knee is struck, that ligament is injured, resulting in the interior of the knee stretching or even tearing.
A player may miss a few days or weeks due to a minor injury. Recovery from a serious injury may take two to four months, while a moderate injury may take a month or longer.
