One dead, two injured in multi-vehicle crash on Garfield and Adelaide in Macomb County

(FOX 2) MACOMB TOWNSHIP, MIEarly on Monday afternoon, a multi-vehicle collision on Garfield and Adelaide claimed one life and wounded two more.

On Monday, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office reported that they were called to a collision at 1:52 p.m. in Maqcomb Township at the intersection of Adelaide Drive and Garfield Road.

Witnesses reported to police that a blue Jeep Compass was traveling west on Adelaide at a high pace when it ran a stop sign and collided with a semi-truck between 22 and 23 Mile Roads. According to the police, a third car, a white Ford Escape, also struck the semi while trying to avoid the collision.

According to Macomb County officials, the lone occupant of the blue Jeep, the driver, passed away at the site. Both the Ford Escape driver and the truck driver were transported to the hospital in the meantime due to minor injuries.

The road was closed by officials at 2:00 p.m. and reopened at 8:00 p.m.

According to police, drinking is not thought to have played a role in the collision.

There is an investigation going on.
