Response
Chief Barnes stated: “Today is a very depressing day for our nation and the entire community, not just Madison.

“We need Congress to act,” said President Joe Biden in a statement on the evening of December 16, 2024. Right now.
“It is unconscionable that we are unable to safeguard our children from this pandemic of gun violence, as seen by the numerous massacres that go unreported, from Newtown to Uvalde, Parkland to Madison, and so many more.
Biden urged Congress to enact “common sense gun safety laws,” such as a national “red flag law,” universal background checks, and prohibitions on assault rifles and magazines with a large capacity.
In a statement, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers expressed gratitude to the first responders for their prompt response and stated, “As we await more information, we are praying for the children, teachers, and entire Abundant Life school community.”
Madison Abundant Life Christian School serves over 200 families from 56 different churches in the Dane County area, according to the school’s website.
