Justin Jefferson pays tribute to Vikings icon Randy Moss during touchdown celebration after he announced cancer battle

As the Minnesota Vikings legend talked about his fight with cancer, Justin Jefferson gave a moving homage to Randy Moss.

Moss, 47, announced that he had surgery to remove a malignant growth between his liver and pancreas after he resigned from his live TV position with ESPN at the beginning of December.

The NFL legend, who had six Pro Bowl appearances and 156 career touchdowns, disclosed last week that he underwent a six-hour operation and spent a week in the hospital.

He is currently at home and thanked “prayer warriors” for their support on social media last week while using a cane.

“Your boy is a cancer survivor,” Moss remarked.

“I never imagined that I would be in this situation, as healthy as I believed myself to be.

“All the prayers, the well wishes, I really felt that, my family felt that.”

Now, Moss will receive chemotherapy.

In Monday Night Football’s thrilling 30–12 Vikings victory over the Chicago Bears, where Moss’ old teammates Jake Reed and Cris Carter also made an appearance on the field with a Moss jersey, Jefferson paid tribute to one of the game’s best wide receivers.

“We love you, Randy!” Jefferson said into the camera while forming a heart with his fingers after scoring his seventh touchdown of the season.

“That’s for you!”

Later, during his post-game interview, Jefferson paid even more homage by sporting a Moss No. 84 jersey.

“Every game is a strategy to get into the end zone,” he remarked, “but I really wanted to honor him with one of my touchdowns.

“You know, finishing it in the first quarter and the first one was simply fantastic.

“I must express my gratitude to him for his contributions to this game and for helping me as a child, simply by being a fan and watching him.

“You have to love him no matter what. I sent him a text message wishing him luck.

“I’ll always have him in my prayers.”
