NFL faces ratings disaster after Patrick Mahomes injury diagnosis threatens his status for key holiday games

At the worst moment for the NFL, Patrick Mahomes is dealing with a serious injury.

Due to a lower leg injury, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was forced to leave Sunday’s game.

During the game against the Cleveland Browns, Mahomes was left on the ground in excruciating pain after being awkwardly bent on a tackle.

His teammates assisted him off the field, and he sat out the rest of the game while Carson Wentz, the backup quarterback, completed it.

It was discovered following the game that Mahomes had a high ankle sprain.

The Chiefs are optimistic that he may return to the field without losing a lot of time, even though that type of injury can have a lengthy rehabilitation period.

The Chiefs play on Saturday this week and then on Wednesday for Christmas, so Mahomes would miss at least the following two games if he sustains a significant injury.

The Chiefs are fighting for the top seed with just three games remaining in the season.

Mahomes might not miss any time, and they will want him to play in as many games as possible.

Following the victory over the Browns, Mahomes stated that he chose to be cautious even though he believed he would be able to play again.

“It’s difficult to say at the moment,” Mahomes remarked.

“You still [have the] adrenaline pumping, and you typically get a decent sense of it the day after.

“I believe there were other ways I might have ended the game, but I felt that inserting Carson Wentz was the correct move.

“The most crucial thing, in my opinion, is to just do what is necessary to return.

“And now we just get back to the rehab part, the treatment part, and try to get ourselves ready on a short week against a good football team.”

Additionally, head coach Andy Reid revealed that although Mahomes could have played again, “there was no need for that.”

It was beneficial to get him a few repetitions in there as well and to let our players hear the snap count in case he had to leave, Reid said. “He wanted to fight about it, but we have a good support system there with Carson.”

NFL on Netflix

This year, on Christmas Day, the NFL will be available on Netflix worldwide.

Two unique holiday games will be broadcast live worldwide by the streaming service.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes kick off their doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1:00 PM ET.

The Baltimore Ravens will play the Houston Texans after them starting at 4:30 p.m. ET.

In her hometown of Houston, Texas, Beyoncé will also perform during the half.

Additionally, Netflix confirmed their broadcast crew for the day, which includes former Good Morning Football host Kay Adams and Fox NFL pundit Greg Olsen.

The Chiefs offense is not playing well even with Mahomes on the field.

Mahomes is probably headed for his worst offensive season ever, having just amassed 159 throwing yards prior to his injury.
