Roseville schools places employee on leave after past abuse allegations surface
A Christian-based academy in Roseville is putting an employee on paid administrative leave after a social media post went viral with horrifying details of alleged abuse against a person who was enrolled at a Detroit institution.
FOX 2, Roseville, Mich.Following claims of mistreatment while he was working at another school, Roseville Community Schools placed one of its workers on paid administrative leave.
Following a widely shared social media post that accused the employee of numerous cases of sexual abuse at a now-closed high school in Detroit, the district sent out a letter to the community regarding the action.
Families of students now enrolled at Detroit’s Westside Christian Academy were shocked by the horrifying details, which go back to 2016.
“Very disturbing for me to hear that,” a mom whose granddaughter attends the school exclaimed.
When their high school closed in 2019, the individual in question departed their staff, the school responded to inquiries. They also claim that an inquiry is still going on.
“Please be aware that there has been no finding of misconduct. We’re only looking into the claims to find out what happened,” the statement said.
Roseville police called Detroit police, who are now investigating the case, according to the agency.
As stated by the government, “We opened the case and are investigating and doing due diligence now,”
No accusations of professional wrongdoing during the employee’s tenure at Roseville have resulted from the investigation thus far.
According to the Macomb County Prosecutor, who is not engaged in the case, placing a staff person on leave can allay some people’s worries while providing others with the opportunity to investigate any accusations.
“Administrative leave is the safest for not only the school and the students that are in the school, but also keeps the parents at ease,” stated Pete Lucido, the prosecutor. “It gives him a chance to prove his innocence on allegations that are from Wayne County.”
