Mariah Carey gets into the festive spirit in a short red dress and white boots in Aspen

In Aspen yesterday, Mariah Carey embraced the holiday spirit by donning a short red dress and white boots.

Christmasqueen Mariah, 55, wowed spectators while shopping for the holidays at the opulent Coloradoretreat.

The vocal prodigy attracted attention by donning a striking red knit minidress with a low neckline.

She accessorized with knee-high fleece-lined boots, a sparkling diamond necklace, and a stylish Chanel beanie and gloves to complete the festive ensemble.

The celebrity exuded glitz as she left the nearby Prada store, letting her golden hair fall loosely over her shoulders.

But in the midst of the holiday happiness, Mariah will be under investigation.

Lawyers will interview the singer over allegations she made in her memoir that her brother Morgan sold narcotics only weeks after their mother and sister passed away.

According to court documents obtained by The U.S. Sun, Mariah has been scheduled to provide a filmed in-person deposition on January 17 at the New York law offices of her brother’s legal team.

In March 2021, Morgan sued his younger sister Mariah, alleging that she had fabricated false information about him in her autobiography, The Meaning Of Mariah Carey.

Mariah refers to Morgan, 64, as her “ex-brother” in the book, and it is thought that they haven’t communicated since 1994.

In the best-selling novel, Mariah accuses her brother of being aggressive with her, selling narcotics while working in a nightclub in New York in the 1980s, and implying that he had served time in prison—all of which Morgan refutes.

She recounts an alleged event in which “12 cops” had to break up a violent fight between Morgan and their father in one section of the book.

“I was a little girl with very few memories of a big brother who protected me,” she stated in her letter.

“More often, I felt I had to protect myself from him, and sometimes I would find myself protecting my mother from him too.”

She implies that Morgan had served time in jail when she refers to him as her “sometimes drug-dealing, been-in-the-system, drunk a** brother” in another chapter.

Mariah claims that Morgan “discreetly supplied the beautiful people with their powdered party favors” while working in a trendy New York nightclub in the late 1980s. His attorneys claim that this is “reasonably understood as a reference to cocaine.” The lawsuit also cites another passage in the book that supports this claim.

All of the allegations were vehemently disputed by Morgan, who claimed in the lawsuit that she had caused him “emotional distress” by publishing “false and defamatory, personally invasive and painful” statements about him that had “serious damage” to his reputation.

According to the lawsuit, “[Morgan] brings this action more out of sadness and disappointment at his sister’s treachery and malicious falsehoods than out of anger at them.”

“He is by no means envious of his sister’s enormous artistic and personal success, has enjoyed his own successes both professional and personal and has always wished her well.”

In February 2022, a court dismissed the majority of the complaint, but he permitted two aspects to remain, including the allegations that Morgan was a drug dealer and the inference that he had served time in prison.

Mariah indicated in an August 2022 affidavit submitted to the case that she believed her comments to be “as fully accurate, as stated in my own literary style.”

FAMOUS SOURCES

According to the same filing, Mariah claimed that she was informed that Morgan was a drug dealer by a “well-known photographer,” a “well-known hairdresser,” and their mother, who claimed that this information was “inner-circle common knowledge at the time.”

According to the documents filed Friday in New York, Mariah will now be subjected to a lengthy interrogation by Morgan’s attorneys regarding the allegations in a videotaped deposition under oath in late January.

In order to support her claims, they have also asked the singer to produce supporting documentation, including the complete names and addresses of all those involved in the next 20 days.

Lawyers will probably seek Mariah to identify the “well-known photographer” and “well-known hairdresser” who she said told her her brother was a drug dealer.

FAMILY AT WAR

The most recent court documents were filed a little more than two months after Mariah and Morgan lost both their sister Alison and their mother Patricia on the same day.

Mariah said she was “heartbroken” by the loss of her mother, who was 87, in a statement announcing their deaths on August 26.

“Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” she continued.

MORGAN’S STATEMENT

According to Morgan, his lawyer informed him of the deaths instead of Mariah.

“It is disheartening that Mariah, in her ‘tell-all book,’ made up negative facts about her brother Morgan, who is still grieving the deaths of his mother and sister, whom he first learned about from her lawyer to his,” Richard Altman, Morgan’s attorney, said in a statement to The U.S. Sun.

The fact that Mariah plays the victim after seriously hurting Morgan with her words is even more depressing.

“In the end, not only will Mariah have to answer questions under oath about how she intentionally harmed her brother, but the public will learn the real truth behind their relationship and who the real victim is.”

Alison, Mariah’s sister, 63, passed away from multiple organ failure in Coxsackie, upstate New York, after battling drug addiction, HIV, homelessness, and abuse.

Mariah Carey’s statement

Mariah Carey told People on August 26, 2024, that her sister Alison and mother Patricia passed away on the same day.

“My heart is broken that I ve lost my mother this past weekend,” she said.

Sadly, my sister passed away that same day in a horrible turn of events.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.”

“I appreciate everyone s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” she said.

A month before Morgan, she had also filed a claim against Mariah, alleging that the book contained false information about her “pumping” her 12-year-old sister out and giving her valium.

Alison said in the court petition that the book featured assertions that were callous, cruel, vengeful, vile, and completely unwarranted public humiliation, and she wanted $1.25 million in damages.

Mariah’s attorneys responded by filing court documents requesting that Alison provide a thorough complaint “setting forth in detail her claims in this action.”

There don’t seem to have been any more court filings in the matter.

Friends said that despite the litigation, Alison had wished to see her sister again before she passed away.

DYING WISH

Alison’s close friend David Baker earlier told The U.S. Sun that she had passed away devastated because their father had requested that they never get back together.

Through family and on X, he says he attempted to inform Mariah that Alison was receiving hospice care near the end of her life, but Mariah never responded.

According to David, “Mariah has now forever denied the last wish of both her father and her sister,” The U.S. Sun reported.
