Iconic Nascar speedway track set to be abandoned after 25 years

Fans bid farewell to the cherished song at a ceremony on December 21 after it ended last Saturday.

The House of Drift served as the venue for Formula Drift competitions, Nascar races, demolition derbies, and street-legal drag racing.

Prior to their rise to fame in the Nascar world, fans had the opportunity to see Logano, Kurt, and Kyle Busch, the Cup Series winners.

In recent years, Irwindale Speedway has barely escaped closure.

Tim Huddleston purchased the property on Christmas Eve in 2017, when Irwindale’s prospects seemed dismal.

Regretfully, the track was unable to escape the financial strains placed on IDS Real Estate, the landowner.

The land will be developed into an industrial and commercial complex.

“Irwindale has been more than just a track – it’s been a home and gathering place for racing enthusiasts worldwide,” Huddleston stated.

“On behalf of my wife Lisa and our partners Bob and Maureen Bruncati, we extend heartfelt thanks to our fans, racers, sponsors, and the City of Irwindale for their unwavering support over the past 25 years.”
